Barry M. Sherman, M.D.
Barry M. Sherman, M.D., has over 30 years experience in academic and pharmaceutical biomedical research. Currently, Dr. Sherman serves as Executive Vice President of BiPar Sciences and Chairman of Angiogenix, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company developing therapeutic solutions for chronic vascular disease. Prior to Angiogenix, Dr. Sherman was President and Chief Executive Officer of Anergen, Inc. and was a founder of Pain Therapeutics, Inc.. Dr. Sherman also served as the first Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Genentech. Before joining Genentech in 1985, Dr. Sherman was Professor of Medicine and Endocrinology at the University of Iowa, College of Medicine, where he served as Associate Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine and Director of the NIH-sponsored Clinical Research Center. Dr. Sherman attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Medical degrees, with honors. He completed his clinical and research training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland and at the University of Michigan. Dr. Sherman has contributed more than 125 publications to the scientific literature, including articles, chapters and books resulting from his NIH funded laboratory and human investigation and results from the study of new pharmaceuticals.
Paula M. Jardieu, Ph.D.
Paula M. Jardieu, Ph.D., is currently the Senior Vice President, Biosciences Division at Prevalere Life Sciences, where she oversees departments responsible for contract drug development, strategic planning for Pharmatox and PK study design for IND applications, and clinical pharmacology/clinical pharmacokinetic study design and implementation. Previously, from 1986 to 2002, Dr. Jardieu was with Genentech, Inc. in various positions, among them, Senior Vice President of Development Sciences and Vice President of Pharmacological Sciences. While there, Dr. Jardieu was the Project Team Leader for Xolair from its IND filing through initiation of Phase III, and Project Team Leader for Raptiva through its IND filing. Dr. Jardieu received her B.A. in Chemistry from Albion College in Albion, Michigan; her M.S. degree in Biochemistry and Ph.D. in Microbiology from Michigan State University, and completed her Post Doctoral studies in Molecular Immunology at Johns Hopkins Medical School.
Bruce P. Babbitt, Ph.D.
Bruce P. Babbitt, Ph.D., is currently the Principal Consultant, Drug Development Consulting at Parexel Consulting. Dr. Babbitt was previously a Senior Regulatory Consultant, Head of Biotechnology Consulting Services, Worldwide Regulatory Affairs at Parexel. Prior to Parexel, he was an Immunotherapy Consultant at Eligix, Inc. Earlier in his career, Dr. Babbitt served as the Director of Immunology Research at T-cellcor, Inc. and as Vice President of Research and ProcessĀ Development for the company, among other positions. Before joining T-cellcor, Dr. Babbitt worked at Lipogen, Inc., where he served in a number of capacities, including Research Scientist/Program Manager, Director of Liposome Technology and Group Director R&D. Dr. Babbitt received his M.A. and B.S. degrees in Industrial Engineering from Worcester Polytechnical Institute; his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and completed his Post Doctoral Studies in Cellular Immnology at Harvard Medical School and Washington University Medical School.
